Mad week cause announced

This year’s MAD Week cause is Oceana. On their website they state, “We lead strategic, directed campaigns that achieve measurable outcomes for the oceans. Oceana leverages law, science, grassroots activism, advocacy, and strategic communications to win policy change around the world.” By donating to this cause, Heritage will be assisting in removing ocean plastic.

Evelyn C. ’25 submitted this year’s cause. She is an ocean enthusiast and is currently in the marine ecology class.  She is “So happy that everyone decided on that one.” Evelyn learned about Oceana during the pandemic and is excited for Heritage’s participation.

Ms. Jackie Peach is a longtime sponsor of Eagle Outreach, the club that runs MAD Week. She says their mission is “To help students find connections with the broader community and how they can help the bigger community, not just here at Heritage.”

Peach hopes that our cause this year will connect to greater themes of sustainability, especially connecting to her Human Geography class.

MAD week begins April 5th with an assembly the Friday after Spring Break.
