Heritage welcomes a brand new face to our building, Mrs. Stephenie Dyben. Even though this is her first year here, Dyben already has a full advisory, who happen to be in their first year here themselves.
Dyben’s teaching journey began 11 years ago. She explains, “I always liked helping people and I found that I was pretty good at figuring out ways to learn things.”
Her teaching journey didn’t start at Heritage. She began teaching in Aurora and moved around to a few different schools. She taught at Arapahoe for a while and then Chatfield. After this journey, she began teaching here at Heritage. Dyben explains that she feels really good about our school and that our energy was amazing.
When asked, what’s one word to describe your teaching style she responded with “Personal.” Dyben says she takes pride in being there for her students in any way she can. She explains, “I would say that I’m really open and flexible. I try to meet the needs of my students, and I’ll do whatever I need to do to help them learn what we are learning”.
Student Kai L. in her Algebra 1 class explains “I learn the best with videos and repetition” and says in Dyben’s class, she accommodates and helps her learn best.
Walking in left her feeling good about where she was, “I got a really good feeling when I stepped into this building for my interview. It felt really good, like home,” Dyben says.
The day she walked in for her interview, she saw one of her former students in the hallway, which made her feel really good. Seeing a familiar face and feeling comfortable in the environment created at Heritage makes Dyben feel very welcome here. She is very excited to see all of the events later on in the year.
A little advice Dyben gives to all students is, “every day is a new day and you can start over and you can change who you are whenever you want to if you want to be something different.”
