On November 17th of this year, the Denver Botanical Gardens opened its doors for its annual Blossom of Light display. There are thousands of dazzling lights all around the gardens in every color imaginable. At $25 a ticket, you can experience it for yourself this holiday season.
When I went, it was about 30 degrees which is not exactly warm. Even with the freezing cold, I was still able to admire the gorgeous lights. It took about an hour to do a loop, but I would have done a second one if it was warmer. We started out crossing a bridge covered in lights synced up to a song. The lights danced as the song played over the speakers. This area was very crowded with people gathered up taking photos and watching the lights.
As we crossed the bridge I was greeted with even more lights in every color. They were wrapped around the trees, around the fences, the bushes, the benches, and anywhere else you could imagine. There were a few light-up reindeer placed around the different areas as well. The water features and a couple of ponds were frozen over and one of the ponds had snowflakes that were lit beautifully.
In another area of the open field, there were light sticks lined up in rows that shimmered and followed up the song playing. Watching this light show was mesmerizing and it is where I spent about 15 minutes. There weren’t too many people around this area, which was nice because I was able to see everything.
As we approached the middle section again, there was a place to purchase drinks and snacks called the Hive Garden Bistro. There you can get chili cheese fries, churros, and roasted almonds to eat. For beverages, they offer regular hot chocolate or loaded which has marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce. They also offer regular apple cider and loaded cider that comes with a dried apple ring, whipped cream, butterscotch chip, and caramel drizzle. The drinks are priced reasonably at around $4-$6.25 with multiple sizes.
Even in the low temperatures, the Blossom of Lights was incredibly gorgeous. If you need a holiday-themed night out, this is the place to go. Just remember to dress warmly. Happy Holidays!
