The Heritage community is very happy to welcome a new teacher to the English department this year. She comes from the Englewood school district: Carrie Moore.
Moore came to Heritage because “I found a position opened at Heritage and I liked the spirit here. She explains, “The spirit at Heritage has brought me here because when I was at Englewood and Englewood didn’t have enough students to have a lot of spirit.”
“There’s a lot of options for students, clubs, and activities. I also feel the strength is the community you’re in.”
Moore says Heritage is different from previous schools she worked at. “The size of Heritage and the parent involvement is a lot different here than previous schools I’ve worked at. There’s a lot of options for students (clubs, activities etc.) I also feel the strength is the community you’re in.”
The thing that inspired Moore to become an English teacher is, “I want kids to learn that reading doesn’t have to be something they dread, writing essays doesn’t have to be something they dread either. I want to teach kids that they could not be good at it but do it to get into college and throughout college also even use it to write resumes.”
Moore has four kids, ages 23, 18, 16 and 10. She says,“I like to garden, cook, watch sports, mainly football, and I like to travel to Sana Barbra California. My favorite musician is Thomas Rhett, and I really like to cook Mexican food but it’s not very authentic. It’s sort of Americanized. I like to cook dinners. I don’t like to bake.” She also has two dogs named Bella and Layla, and is married.
