As Winter Spirit Week approaches, Heritage High School students are gearing up for one of the most exciting traditions of the year. From dress-up days and class songs to energetic riff-offs and spirited assemblies, the week brings the entire student body together in friendly competition.
Held every February, WinterSpirit Week is a memorable event filled with challenges, performances, and an outpouring of school pride. Each year features a unique theme that unites the classes. This year’s theme is Top Gun, with each grade level taking on a different character. The freshmen represent Hangman, the sophomores are Goose, the juniors take on Phoenix, and the seniors lead as Maverick.
Anna Rowe ‘28 shares her excitement for Winter Spirit Week, saying, “I like winter spirit week because it’s a chance for me and my cheer team to get out in front of everyone before we go to nationals, so it’s a great way for us to perform in front of a crowd.”
She also highlights her role in student government, adding, “But also if you’re talking from a student gov standpoint, I love being a person that people can look up to, and I can teach them the class song and the riff-offs too. I’m so honored that I get to influence people so much and be a face that everyone knows.”
Rowe’s perspective shows both sides of Spirit Week — as a cheerleader preparing for nationals and as a student leader helping bring energy and unity to the school. By teaching songs and encouraging participation, she demonstrates leadership and school spirit throughout the student body.
Wilcox shares her point of views on such a highly awaited topic. Meghan Wilcox ‘28 shares, “I like the assemblies; especially watching the dances and competitions. I don’t like when other students don’t dress up, because then the spirit is taken out.”
Winter Spirit Week is more than just dress-up days and assemblies — it’s a tradition that showcases leadership, creativity, and school pride. As students step into their roles and celebrate together, they continue to build memories that define the Heritage experience for years to come.
