
On Sept. 17, Heritage High School’s homecoming game brought students, teachers, and families together for a night full of school spirit and excitement.
The energy from the stands matched the energy on the field as the crowd followed the close game from beginning to end. In the final minutes of the game, Heritage won against Fountain-Fort Carson 50-43.
Anna Lundberg ‘29, was one of the cheerleaders who led the crowd and supported the football team throughout the game. She described the atmosphere of the game as “electric” and said that being on the sideline was an “indescribable feeling.”
“Whenever our team would get a touchdown or a first down, the crowd went wild,” Lundberg said.
Camryn McKone ‘28, also commented on how the crowd’s atmosphere the game. “I thought the energy in the crowd was really amped,” she said. “The excitement of Homecoming and a potential victory in the game really helped with the energy.” Securing their victory made the game even more memorable to many of the students as it gave them the chance to cheer on their classmates.
The Heritage tradition of the Homecoming Spirit Awards also continued this year when they were announced at halftime. Students and teachers winning these awards are nominated by their peers. Lundberg was one of the sophomore winners.
“When they announced my name, I was so happy and it felt so good to know that my peers and teachers see the kindness and effort that I put in every day,” she said.
