Although we are already a month into the second semester, Heritage still has new teachers in need of a proper welcome. One of these teachers is Cara Allen, who joined the Heritage community as an English teacher in September.

Allen didn’t choose Heritage randomly. “I’ve lived in Colorado since about 2008… My children are in this district, so I was hoping to get something here.” Until this job, Allen was going to school and was a stay-at-home mom who recently welcomed another child. Throughout all of this, she has maintained a love for both English and Writing.

“I have always been a lover of English. I wanted to be a writer growing up, and then I also wanted to be a teacher.” She explains how she combined her two passions into the career she is happy to have today and how she carries them outside her job. “I’m still a writer, so I’m trying to publish a fantasy book.”

“I teach Language Arts. Right now I’m teaching just a Sophomore class and a Junior class,” states Allen. “So far I really like the community and the people I’ve met. There is a fun culture and people are very friendly.”

Despite starting her job in September, Allen is enjoying her time here and has fully settled into her classroom and office.
