Senior parking spots are an exciting tradition at Heritage, where Heritage seniors get to take a weekend to decorate their own parking spot in the parking lot. This is a special and exciting tradition at Heritage because some school seniors, like Arapahoe, don’t have a chance to paint a spot. On Saturday, August 23rd, Heritage seniors gather at the school to start painting their spots. At first, students were stressed trying to find their spots, but after everyone got settled, it was a lot more calm. As everyone got to work, students started to see the colors spread through the parking lot. “I had a lot of fun making my parking spot. I did it with my sister and a friend, and we had a lot of fun doing it together. It is such a cool tradition, and I’ve been waiting to paint my parking spot since I was a freshman,” says Reese M. ’26.

Everyone anticipated rain and bad weather, but it ended up being very hot, families brought tents and other things to provide shade during the day. People who stayed for a long time had numerous sunburns. Every student put hours of work into their spot, some students brought friends and family to help paint their spot. “I really enjoyed seeing everyone pour so much creativity into making their parking spots, and it felt really cool to be around everyone’s family and see how much work everyone put into making their spots,” said Ellesse P. ‘26.

By the end of the day, the parking lot looked amazing with all the colorful, creative spots. Every senior’s design showed off their personalities and interests. It was a fun way to celebrate senior year, and the memories made while painting with friends and family will definitely stick with them long after graduation.
