Taylor Swift is a very popular artist, especially among millennial and Gen-Z women. One big reason for this is not that they like her music, but that they feel she supports things that many other people, including the government right now, don’t. People feel very inspired and empowered by Taylor Swift, not just because of her music but because of who she is. And she just came out with a new album called “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The Heritage community has mixed views on the album. For example, Grayson Wilt ‘28 dislikes Taylor Swift. Wilt says, “I find her music annoying, and she is just too repetitive and way overrated.” While he feels this way about her overall, though, he still says, “‘22’ is a decent song that I can get behind, but songs like ‘Father Figure’ are bad.”
On the other hand, Anna Rowe ‘28 thinks Taylor Swift is awesome. She says, “Taylor Swift is a great artist. I love her, but she definitely has some bad songs.” Rowe believes that Taylor Swift is one of the best artists ever, just because she simply loves her music. She feels you can really relate to what she is saying and feel connected through her music.
When it comes to her new album, Wilt and Rowe still have mixed views. Wilt says, “Her new album is one of her worst. It’s really cringy, and she uses lots of outdated slang in her lyrics.” But Rowe says the complete opposite: “This new album is definitely one of her better ones. I really like how it’s different from some of her others, especially her lyrics, and I don’t have many dislikes.”
