Whether you stayed home for winter break or went to some extravagant place, winter break is the longest break for students save for over the summer. Eleana Draijer, ’25, visited an amazing place you should consider going to next, and Bryce Goldinger, 26’ had a great experience here in Colorado!

Draijer went to Europe. For the majority of the break, she visited the Netherlands and spent a few days in Paris. She mostly visited for family, but Draijer mentioned there are a lot of other attractions there to see.

Draijer says, “In Utrecht, which is a bigger city in the Netherlands, we explored downtown and visited some of the historical landmarks.”

Some of the landmarks in Utrecht include the Dom Tower, Trajectum Lumen, and many history-filled museums. Structured down winding cobblestone streets, with narrow houses, similar to what you’d see in France, and canals all around.

“It’s a really cool experience, a lot different than America and it’s a different culture, it was all really pretty,” states Draijer.

There are tours and discoveries you can sign up for to learn more about the culture and history behind the country. Utrecht is a very beautiful city with a lot to do and learn there.

Trips inside Colorado are just as fun and a great way to spend winter break. Here in Colorado, we should take advantage of where we live. Our beautiful mountains provide lots of fun winter activities. Bryce Goldinger ’26 took advantage of this and went to Breckenridge over break!

“Breckenridge is really nice, [my family and I] go skiing and snowshoeing up there,” Goldinger explains.

Of course, skiing and snowboarding are the go-to’s when going to the mountains when it’s snowy, but Breckenridge has a lot more to offer than that. You can go snowshoeing and ice climbing. Many people have cabins up there, so they can travel a lot more, but it’s up to you on how you want to travel. Hopefully, many of you can also enjoy amazing experiences and trips over your fun-filled breaks! Summer is up next, the longest break filled with potential to go somewhere fun!
