The Denver Broncos jersey the author purchased, not realizing the team was getting new uniforms. He feels quite silly now

The Denver Broncos had an insane season last year. From a 1-5 start to a 5-game win streak, to completely falling apart and not making the playoffs with an 8-9 record. It’s safe to say it was quite the wild ride. After the season, the Broncos made some drastic changes. First, they traded quarterback Russell Wilson to the Pittsburgh Steelers, eating 50 million dollars in dead cap, which is money they can’t use. This hindered the team in free agency, as they weren’t able to sign many big free agents. They were able to sign wide receiver Josh Reynolds to a one-year deal, which was a move not many Broncos fans saw coming.

Next, the team went through a uniform redesign. Gone are the curved lines on the uniforms, now introducing the Mile High Collection, the new name for the uniform set. Fans had mixed reviews on the uniforms, as it was the first uniform change since 1998. However, many Heritage students actually really liked the new jerseys.

“I really like the new uniforms. The colors and the style are really clean. Honestly, they might be the only good thing about the Broncos this season,” Michael J. ’24 states.

Finally, the Broncos pulled a move that surprised most of their fans, selecting Oregon quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick. Nix was an accurate passer in college, and also has a connection back to Heritage.

“I think that since Nix is 24, he is a little older than we might have wanted, but he did throw to former Heritage tight end Terrance Furgeson ’21 at Oregon the past 2 years, so he’s alright in my book. Therefore, Heritage claims Nix as our own,” Henry G. ’24 explains.

Time will only tell if these moves prove beneficial for the team that has the second-longest streak of missing the playoffs. All Broncos fans can do now is sit back and enjoy the ride.
