This years Red Rocks Christmas in Color show hosted throughout the month of December. This is the first year the event has been hosted at Red Rocks; before now, it took place at Bandimere. Basically, you take your car to one of the Red Rocks parking lots and drive through various light setups.

Driving through with a full car of friends or family is a fun experience. Everybody is in a good mood and the workers talk to you to make it more enjoyable. Before it starts, you are given glasses that create an illusion of snowflakes with the lights.

It is $34.99 for general admission, but after fees, it adds up to about 44 dollars. This is just a regular drive-through without glasses. Another option that includes the special glasses is the Party Pack, which totals 46.99. The wait to get in isn’t horrible, it only took about 30 minutes before we started making our way through the show. The length of the drive also took around 30 minutes and is about 1 mile long.

While making your way through the show, you see various styles and sculptures of lights. There are spirals of trees and big screens of lights that make a design that flows with music. Light-up characters are scattered through the path with moving mouths making it look like they’re singing.

Along the way, there are pop-up signs that have cute, interactive messages. One that I remember reading was, “Honk twice if you believe in Santa.” Random honking could be heard from the start of the drive but only once you’ve reached the sign did you find out why.

I would suggest bringing hot chocolate and some fun snacks along to make it an even better experience. And turn up the radio to see how the lights move with the music!

Overall, the Red Rocks Christmas in Color show was a big hit. Many people returned even though it’s not hosted at Bandimere any longer. Many even brought loaded cars to enjoy this wonderful experience for this magical time of the year.
