Last weekend, after months of hard work and nonstop determination, our cheer team preformed at State. State was held in Denver at the Coliseum this past weekend , they joined many other cheer teams from Colorado to compete. But this season wasn’t just about perfect routines; it was about perseverance. After their amazing performance last year at State, the team had big expectations heading into the competition week. While battling last minute sickness and unexpected setbacks, the team showed up and showed perseverance.

Although the team did not make finals, they placed 7th competing against 11 teams in the 5a division for coed. Even though the results of the competition weren’t exactly what the team wanted, they are ready to get back into the gym and work to prepare for their national competition in Anaheim, California this upcoming February. “I think as a team we knew we wouldn’t do the best we have ever done, but we showed everyone what determination and hard work looks like and thats all that matters,”  says Oliver Rose ’29.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be perfect, but we trusted each other and that’s what got us there,” says Ellesse Perry ’26’. The team showed some serious resilience through their performance and training. They are determined to continue to keep that mindset for their future competitions. “After the long week we had, we knew we just had to go on the floor and give it our all and give 100% of our effort.” Courtney Carlson ‘27. The team now continues to train and prepare for nationals in February.
