Heritage played Arapahoe in the annual “Milk Jug Classic” football game on September 3. The tradition has been going on for over 50 years and is one of the biggest rivalry games in the state. Arapahoe has won the trophy for the last seven years straight, outperforming Heritage time and time again. This year’s game was no different, as Arapahoe took the win 58 to 14.
When asked about Heritage’s performance, Varsity Linebacker Brycen Barrett ‘28 said, “Our box did really well. Our run stop is a very key part of our defense, and it did pretty well during this game. We have to put this week behind us and look to learn from our weaknesses and move forward to improve every single week.”
Star tackle Elliot Graham ‘27 was taken out of the third quarter with a knee injury and was unable to finish the game. This was the first of many star players getting hurt, as starting Cornerback Cooper Marquis was pulled off with an undisclosed injury in the fourth quarter. Tiernan Galligan ‘27 says, “It’s tough to go to such an important game and watch your team lose year after year, but it’s always great to see how our school supports its team 100% of the time, no matter what. It’s also great to see the younger players developing into skilled and intelligent athletes who will help lead our team to a much brighter future. That is always something great to see.”
The last time Heritage brought the Milk Jug home in 2021, before any of our time. Even with the losses, the Heritage community continues to support the team year after year.
