This year, Heritage welcomes the Math Department’s newest addition, Jill Donnelly. She will be teaching Algebra I and Geometry. Even though Donnelly teaches Math, her favorite subject was always History. In addition to living in the LPS community, her daughter goes to school in the Littleton Public School district. While this is Donnelly’s first year at Heritage, this is not her first year teaching.

“I taught at STEM School Highlands Ranch for six years before coming here,” says Donnelly.

Not only does she have experience with teaching, but also in engineering. Donnelly describes her decision to become a teacher as a big left turn. Before becoming a teacher, she worked as a civil engineer for 13 years. Outside of work, Donnelly loves to spend time with her family.

“I like to spend a lot of time with my family, so sometimes that means going paddleboarding or going up to the mountains to get away,” Donnelly comments.

She has expressed her excitement for this year’s sports, activities and assemblies. In order to enjoy this year, she stressed the importance of rebuilding the school’s routines. She hopes to be a part of this rebuilding and wants to make a difference for this school’s students.

“Since the pandemic, 50% of the kids here have never had a real authentic high school experience, so hopefully we can make it fun and worthwhile,” says Donnelly.
